Breast Cancer Researcher Dr. Karen Gelmon Honoured with IMRIC Award at Gala Celebration – April 22, 2012
Researcher and oncologist Dr. Karen Gelmon was honoured by CFHU on April 22, 2012 at a gala celebration held by the Vancouver chapter supporting breast cancer research. Dr. Gelmon was presented with the IMRIC award in recognition for her outstanding scientific contributions in screening and early detection of breast cancer. Dr. Gelmon is leading a new partnership with scientists at IMRIC to collaborate on genetic sequencing, epigenetics, immunology, stem cell research and cancer imaging.

Celebrating Great Achievements honoured IMRIC’s Dr. Howard Cedar and Dr. Aharon Razin who were the 2011 Canada Gairdner International Award Recipients. The evening took place at the home of The Honourable Jerry and Carole Grafstein and was held in conjunction with CFHU and the Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF).

Joe Bova Presented with Scopus Award at Gala in Support of FASD Research at IMRIC – May 16, 2011
The Winnipeg Chapter honoured local philanthropist Joe Bova on May 16th, 2011 with the Scopus award for his lifelong dedication to cultural philanthropy, his leadership in fostering community renewal, his extraordinary professional career and for his concern and respect for the Jewish people. The evening also celebrated a new collaboration between IMRIC and the Government of Manitoba in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) research to which all proceeds from the evening went towards.
IMRIC Award Presented to Philanthropist Morris Justein at Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration – May 10, 2011
The Ontario Science Centre in Toronto was the backdrop for a dinner honouring Morris Justein with the newly created IMRIC award, given in acknowledgment of a major philanthropic or scientific contribution to medical research, on May 10, 2011. The dinner was followed by a Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration in conjunction with Israel’s consulate general.
