Why I became a researcher: 

Before I became an IMRIC researcher I was interested in animal sciences and began working on marine ecology and fish parasites. By the time I was ready for my post-doctoral work, scientists were starting to experiment with genetic manipulation of the malaria parasite which really interested me. So I moved to NY to work at Cornell Medical School with Kirk Deitsch a leading researcher in genetic manipulation of the malaria pathogen.
What I enjoy about our research at IMRIC is that we work directly on the pathogen. We manipulate it, grow it in blood in the lab and see what the results are. What we do in the IMRIC lab has direct implications for people around the world today.

1996: B.Sc. in Animal Sciences, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

1999: M.Sc. in Animal Sciences, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, magna cum laude

2004: Ph.D. in Parasitology, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

2007: The most outstanding 2007 Israeli projects in the “EU 7th Framework Program for Research & Technological Development”
2007: The Young Scientists’ program of the German-Israeli Foundation.
2007/2008: Golda Meir Fellowship
2009: Awarded the Gaia Luoni Prize from Institute Pasteur on outstanding achievements in malaria genetics
2009 & 2010: Outstanding lecturer award, Hebrew University
2010:Jacob & Lena Joels Memorial Foundation Senior Lectureship for Excellence in the Life and Medical Sciences
