Prostate Cancer

Dr. Larry Goldenberg, Founder, the Men’s Health Initiative of the British Columbia (MHIBC), of the University of British Columbia and Vancouver General Hospital

The third most common cause of death from cancer in men of all ages is prostate cancer. In men over the age of 75, it is the main cause of death. It is IMRIC, the Men’s Health Initiative of British Columbia, VGH and the University of British Columbia’s main goal to develop ways to effectively treat this deadly killer.

It is from this research that they hope no more sons, fathers, husbands, and grandfathers will have to suffer.

Collaborative Projects

Prostate Cancer Research

In 2008, Dr. Larry Goldenberg, founder of the MHIBC and Director of the Vancouver Prostate Centre, asked if IMRIC would collaborate on developing ways to effectively treat prostate cancer. These tumors grow at different rates and surgery is only performed at a later stage, but in cases of rapid growth, surgery may be too late.
